By year 2035, we anticipate that the total population served will be approximately 1.2 million.The OpportunityBecome an integral member of the Health Promotion and Community Strengthening team as an Aboriginal Outreach Worker. You will be a key contact for clients from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community as you create and provide a supportive and culturally safe environment to enable access and engagement to required services. Applying your strong links with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Hobsons Bay and Wyndham, you will focus on developing trusting relationships with the community. In addition, you will contribute to improving the health and access to services for our community as you provide practical assistance including attending appointments for health assessments and addressing any barriers a client may experience.The opportunity is based at Wyndham Vale with the flexibility to work from home also. This role is a Part Time Fixed Term (Special Project) role until June 2022. This role is flexible to consider a 0.6-0.8FTE commitment with 3-4 days per week (negotiable).This position is classified as a Social and Community Services Employee Level 3 offering $31.75 - $34.67 per hour (dependent on relevant skills and qualifications) under the Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017.You will make a difference byCreating a culturally safe, engaging and supportive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and community members at IPC Health.Providing practical assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to attend appointments for health assessments and services, addressing any barriers a client may experience.Organising and promoting social and wellbeing activities and health education sessions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.Engaging primary health care services, professionals and providers to enhance the cultural responsiveness of their services.To succeed, you will needStrong knowledge and links with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Hobsons Bay and Wyndham.Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to form effective professional relationships with clients, health providers and a broad range of other stakeholders.Excellent organisational skills for event planning and project coordination.Strong computer literacy and administration skills.Ability to work effectively within a team and individually on designated tasks.Current and valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check and driver licence.To possess or be working towards a qualification in Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing studies (desirable). What next?If you are passionate, creative and want to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
