Social media has normalised gambling, contributing to the increased risk of young people experiencing gambling harm and developing gambling-related behaviours. The difference you can make is to decrease the normalisation of gambling in young people and communities.About YouYou live, work or study in the Western suburbs of Melbourne, and have an interest in community engagement and working with young communities. You may have experience of gambling harm to share or are seeking experience to develop leadership skills and start your career. To become a Young Leader of the West you will:Enjoy communicating with others and be a great team playerHave a desire to understand and learnHave access to email and Microsoft Office suiteWillingness to learn and be open to other people’s opinionsKnowledge in gambling harm is a bonus but not essentialNo prior experience is necessary to become a Young Leader of the West. All Leaders undergo training in leadership, project management and creative collaboration. Leaders are given resources on gambling harm to get them started. All leaders are provided with meals and a $50 voucher for each attended workshop. You can also claim for travel and parking costs related to events.All volunteers will require a Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
